As a professional Tiktok lurker, which is what I call myself and what I’m pretty good at, I see a lot of fashion trends. The most recent thing I noticed? Acubi fashion
If you look through your Tiktok or Instagram feed, you’ll see this trend too. Or you already have, but you didn’t know what it was. So let’s find out what it is together.
What Is The Acubi Fashion?
Think of it as the baby of the Y2K and minimalist styles. Most Y2K fashions were about bright, fun colors, but the Acubi technique is all about neutrals. Simply put, the shapes are the same (low-rise jeans and skirts, tank tops and cardigans), but the color palettes are different (opposites, to be exact).
Where Did The Fashion Of The Acubi Come From?
Many Y2K fashions came from the West, but the Acubi style is from Korea. It started because of how popular Acubi Club was.
The brand has a lot of colored items, but its customers are most interested in the neutral-colored ones (and, well, those are the ones that go viral on TikTok).
Should You Give It A Try?
As someone who grew up in the Y2K era, it’s interesting to see this trend emerge and be given this name. Even though I’ve only looked at Acubi’s website while researching this story, it feels like I’ve seen it before.
During that time, my closet was full of wide-legged pants, long-sleeved tops with beads, denim maxi skirts, and bucket hats. So it’s funny and interesting to see them back in use. I know that fashion trends come back after a while, but I didn’t think the styles I wore in my teens would be back when I was in my early 30s. (I must keep reminding myself that all the clothes I wore back then are now considered old.
So, if you have an older sister or cousin around my age, go through their closet to find pieces you can use to make your version of the Acubi style. You can also try thrift shops. You can also try to order from Acubi Club itself. But if you need a different option, I’ve found some interesting things online.
